Teledyne Owns Majority Share in Optech

Teledyne DALSA, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, has acquired a majority interest in the parent company of Optech. Teledyne Technologies is a leading provider of sophisticated instrumentation, digital imaging products and software, aerospace and defence electronics, and engineered systems. Teledyne DALSA is located in Waterloo, Ontario (Canada) near Optech headquarters.

Don Carswell, CEO of Optech, says the investment demonstrates Teledyne’s commitment to further growth at Optech, as well as the company’s technology, clients and markets. He expects Optech products will be enhanced by the closer relationship with the Teledyne companies who work in complementary areas.

Robert Mehrabian, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Teledyne, adds that Optech’s Lidar systems, producing detailed three-dimensional images, add a new level of capability to Teledyne’s portfolio of visible, infrared, X-ray and ultraviolet sensors, cameras and software. Optech’s bathymetric Lidar systems used for coastal zone mapping and shallow water profiling are highly complementary with Teledyne’s marine survey sensors and systems.
