OCAD 10 is made for cartography. Therefore special cartographic drawing and editing function have been implemented.
However, OCAD interchanges within the following fields: Mobil, Geodata, Internet, and Desktop Publishing:
- Mobile: you can use OCAD on portable PC to capture geodata directly in the field and import and export data from and to GPS devices.
- Geodata: OCAD allows you to export and import data into and out of OCAD (shp, dxf) and supports database connection (ODBC)
- Internet: OCAD allows you to import data from the Internet (OpenStreetMap) and export your own maps with the help of a Wizard.
- Desktop Publishing: you can export DTP files to print map (e.g. AI, PDF, SVG, EPS). However you can import DTP files as well to georeference them, dissolve the distortion with a rubber sheet function and reduce redundant data. This helps you to combine your map with other geo data or use it in GIS.

OCAD is being used successfully in more than 65 countries and in a great variety of sectors: cartography publishers, national institutes of cartography and topography, land surveying offices, cities, districts, communities, fire brigades, graphics firms, planning and engineering offices, schools, universities, the military, sport and recreation clubs, etc. OCAD lnc. has been subject to ongoing development following customers‘ wishes.
