In response to UKHO NAVWARNING (Number: 037/10 Type: NAVAREA) SevenCs have created a free software tool (available for download on their website) that can be used by data producers to batch check their ENCs. The tool creates log files which can either:
• Be used as a manual reference for updating ENCs, or
• Imported into SevenCs ENC Designer software.
ENC Sounding Checker is a simple command line tool for MS Windows Operating Systems. It can be used to parse a single ENC (S-57 or SevenCs SENC) or multiple ENCs (if operated in batch mode) and check if there are soundings that are shallower than surrounding areas with depths attribution. ENC Sounding Checker does not modify your ENCs at all. The affected features are reported and can be written to a log file.
The log files can either:
- be used as a manual reference for updating ENCs
- imported in SevenCs ENC Designer software.
ENC Sounding Checker is free of charge. Click here to download your copy.

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories |
|
The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
