| The Sichuan Earthquake (1) Geomatics in UAE Closer Ties in Geo-Information This TerraSAR-X StripMap radar acquisition (3m resolution) covers a 30x50sqkm area of the north-eastern part of Sichuan Province, on the border with Gansu Province. The lower half of the image shows the fertile Sichuan basin, several settlements clearly visible due to their strong reflectance. The recent earthquake severely affected the mountain range to the north. The City of Beichuan is recognisable in a river valley, upper centre in the image. Provincial capital Chengdu lies slightly to the south of this scene, in the centre of the basin. |
