Preparations are well underway for the next ISPRS Congress, which is being held in Melbourne, Australia, from 24th August to 3rd September 2012. The Conference Organiser is finalised, the web URL is registered, and the new Congress centre is due to open.

The event will offer the delegate:

Organising Committee
An experienced Local Organising Committee is in place, consisting of Cliff Ogleby, congress director/University of Melbourne, associate professor Chris Bellman, RMIT University, Professor Simon Jones, RMIT University, and Professor Mark Shortis, chair, Technical Committee 2012/RMIT University.

Brand-new Facilities
The venue for the Congress is a state-of-the-art complex with six-star environmental rating. It makes extensive use of natural light and has incorporated recycled material into its design. Combined with the Exhibition Centre next door, it provides the largest Congress facility in the Southern Hemisphere. The building complex is adjacent to the city centre and within walking distance of many hotels, restaurants, the Arts complex and the lively Southbank development. It provides an excellent venue for an exciting, engaging and rewarding Congress. There is ample space for the poster displays, the technical exhibition and oral presentations.

The timing of the Congress is spring in the Southern Hemisphere, a wonderful time to be in Melbourne. The flowers are in bloom, there are many festivals, the Spring Racing Carnival, and, of course, Australian Rules Football.
