Mailbox - Dutch Tourist Attractions for Google

  11/08/2009
A Google Street View trike visited the Netherlands in August to shoot images of Dutch tourist attractions. This image was taken at the Efteling, one of the largest and most popular theme parks in the Netherlands, and one of the oldest in the world.

Google Street View in The EftelingThe images will be included in Google Street View, an internet application that enables users of Google Maps to view neighborhoods at street level. The Google trike, a tricycle with pole-mounted camera attached at the rear, was designed to take pictures of car-free roadways. Visits by the trike are limited because of the time it takes to take good pictures. Much depends on the weather, and cloudy or rainy conditions are unsuitable.

Google introduced the first Dutch imagery for Google Street View in March this year. In addition to Amsterdam and Rotterdam, images include 360-degree views of Groningen, Zaandam and Volendam.
