More than 220 people participated, representing companies and organisations from nineteen countries. Interest in this conference is increasing year by year and attendees come from a variety of backgrounds. The programme focused equally upon terrestrial laser scanning, airborne laser scanning and digital aerial photography technologies. One eye-catcher was the presentation of a new VisionMap A3 Integrated Mobile Mapping System that allows a dramatic increase in productivity and generation of DTM and DSM within a few hours of completing aerial photo survey. It can be used effectively in urban areas with high-density building.

The conference was organised by the Society for Contribution to Development of Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing (RSPRS) and Gazprom, in co-operation with the Federal Agency of Geodesy and Cartography of Russia, Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography, the Siberian State Academy of Geodesy GIS Association, and the Russian Association for Engineering Research in Building and Construction. The companies Geokosmos, GeoLIDAR and GeoPolygon acted as general sponsors. OPTEN Ltd took the role of conference catalogue sponsor. The conference was widely supported by Russian and international mass media, including GIM International.

Among exhibiting companies were Russian governmental and private companies, scientific and educational organisations, and leading manufacturers and service providers including Optech Inc (Canada), Riegl Laser Measurement Systems GmbH (Austria), Airborne Hydrography AB (Sweden) and Terrasolid Ltd (Finland).
