ESSP Initiates EGNOS Operations

The European Satellite Services Porvider (ESSP, Belgium) announced the start of the Inititial Operations Phase for EGNOS following the conclusion of negotiations between the European Space Agency (ESA, France) and the ESSP.
EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) is the European augmentation of GPS, broadcasting corrections, delivering enhanced performances to the users through geostationary satellites.
The Initial Operations Phase of EGNOS will ensure the broadcast of the EGNOS Signal in Space; during this phase EGNOS operations will be technically qualified and management responsibilities will be progressively transferred from ESA to the ESSP.

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
