Virtual sightseeing on Google Earth has become popular and there are many websites which publish KML files to show tourist attractions on Google Earth. However, all main stream media (televisions, radios, newspapers and magazines) without hyperlink capabilities are rarely active in publishing the exact location information due to the inefficiency of the longitude/latitude coordinates.
NAC Earth can also help police officers, journalists, road inspectors, environment monitors, sales professionals, real estate agents and school teachers to efficiently navigate in the virtual world provided by Google Earth. The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
