| Ordnance Survey (United Kingdom) has appointed Mark Alexander as finance director. He will head the national mapping agency's finance, procurement and programme delivery teams. |

Mark has over 20 years' experience in all aspects of financial management in both the private and public sectors, most recently with the construction group Bovis Lend Lease. He has also held senior roles at train operator Laing Rail and in the technology sector at science and engineering group AEA Technology.
Mr Alexander, 48, started his career in the Royal Navy and later trained as a chartered accountant with Binder Hamlyn, qualifying in 1988 and moving into the field of corporate finance. He is married with two children and lives in Oxfordshire.
Mr Alexander replaces Ordnance Survey's former Director of Finance Alastair Matthews, who recently moved to the post of Director of Finance and Investment with Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust. The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
