Vexcel Launches UltraMap Photogrammetric Software System
13/05/2008
At the 2008 Annual Conference of the American Society for Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing (ASPRS), Vexcel Imaging, GmbH has unveiled its UltraMap photogrammetric workflow software system. The new solution is a flexible and scalable distributed system for managing and processing vast amounts of UltraCam data, and integrates UltraCam-specific hardware such as the DX data storage units and the DKS docking station to support Field and office environments.
UltraMap includes modules for managing data download, distributed level 0-2/2-3 processing, aerial triangulation, and interactive data visualisation for quality control. These modules are based on two core technologies, the UltraMap Framework and Dragonfly. The framework is responsible for distributing UltraCam data across a heterogeneous system using load balancing and resource management. Dragonfly is derived from the Microsoft Seadragon technology that provides smooth and high-resolution image browsing and zooming for large sets of data content and is also integral to Microsoft's broadly acclaimed Photosynth software.
Dragonfly supports multi-channel 16-bit UltraCam imagery for best visuals within the complete photogrammetric workflow. The UltraMap AT package exploits both core technologies to provide interactive point measurement and efficient distributed tie pointing for aerial triangulation of projects.
