NovAtel Introduces SPAN-SE

  19/09/2008
NovAtel (Canada) has announced its new GNSS + INS receiver, the SPAN-SE. Designed for precision applications, SPAN-SE enhances the powerful OEMV receiver with features that are critical to precision GNSS/INS system integrators such as on-board data logging, Ethernet connectivity, wheel sensor input and scalability for future GNSS advances.

NovAtel's SPAN (Synchronous Position, Attitude and Navigation) technology tightly-couples two complementary technologies: Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) positioning and inertial navigation. The pinpoint accuracy of GNSS positioning and the stability of IMU gyro and accelerometer measurements combine to provide a 3D position, velocity and attitude solution. Unlike GNSS-only navigation systems, the output is stable and continuously available, even through periods where GNSS signals are blocked.

Utilising NovAtel's patented OEMV receiver technology, the SPAN-SE delivers GPS + GLONASS capabilities and NovAtel AdVance RTK functionality. A CPU for real-time GPS/INS processing results in fast data rates and low raw data and solution latency, for highly dynamic or time-critical applications. SPAN-SE is currently available in a single antenna configuration, with NovAtel planning a dual antenna configuration in the near future.

Indoor Augmented Reality with Bing Maps

During this presentation of Blaise Aguera during TED 2010, you can see Bing Maps working from the sky towards street-level imagery and also showing images inside buildings. It even is capable adding real-time movie imagery from inside.
