DigitalGlobe CEO to Present04/02/2009 |
| DigitalGlobe's president and chief executive officer Jill Smith will present at Map World Forum in Hyderabad, India on 10 February 2009. Within the session titled "Geospatial Technologies and Sustainable Development," Smith will discuss how geospatial imaging provides a real world perspective on the earth's historical and present day habitation. |
|
Through the power of high-resolution satellite imagery, it is possible to observe and monitor consumption of earth resources - an important tool and motivating factor behind the development and, ultimately, the improvement of environmental sustainability strategies. Smith will also discuss how today's near real-time satellite imagery is poised to influence government policies for land and infrastructure development, natural resource management, urban emissions and erosion control in the future.

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories |
|
The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
