Platinum Sponsor for GSDI World Conference23/03/2009 |
| Autodesk will be supporting this year's GSDI World Conference to be held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands on 15th to 19th June 2009. The theme is Spatial Data Infrastructure Convergence: Building SDI Bridges to Address Global Challenges and Autodesk is supporting the event as a Platinum sponsor. |
Autodesk's investment in the conference demonstrates its strengthening role in the geospatial business area - in particular, supporting local governments manage their meta-data to meet INSPIRE directives and using its technology and experience to help them integrate GIS and CAD into a single source of centralised information. Autodesk is also currently extending its partnerships in this area to help further build on its expertise and knowledge to help customers move from theory to practice and so take advantage of current opportunities. 3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories |
The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
