UltraCamLp

  06/04/2009
The UltraCamLp medium format digital aerial photogrammetric camera has become available. The announcement comes just 8 months after its predecessor, the UltraCamL, was announced. Based on the UltraCamL, the UltraCamLp features the same advanced technical specifications but boasts an even larger format collection at 92 megapixels (11,704 x 7,920 pixels pan) compared to the UltraCamL 64 megapixel format. This image format capability is made possible through new electronics and a smaller CCD array of just 6 ìm.

Like the UtraCamL, the UltraCamLp features a 1:2.2 pan sharpen ratio and collects RGB and NIR in parallel, all with forward motion compensation by TDI. It also takes advantage of the computing and storage subsystems introduced with the UltraCamX large format sensor system that include removable storage units for longer flight missions and reduced ground time but utilized solid state devices for higher integration.

The UltraCamLp will be available for flying season 2010 with deliveries beginning in November 2009.

Port-au-Prince as Seen from Sky

NASA's Earth Observing-1 satellite captured this image of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on the morning of Jan. 15, 2010. The image shows the densely built and densely populated capital city. Satellite images like this one, when compared with similar images taken before the earthquake, will provide information to support disaster recovery efforts in Haiti. Data from the Advanced Land Imager on the satellite. Image processed by NASA's Earth Observatory, Goddard Space Flight Center
