Intergraph to Present at GSDI 11 World Conference

  09/06/2009
Intergraph will present in three sessions on spatial data infrastructure (SDI) at the GSDI 11 World Conference to be held from 15th to 19th June 2009 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. At GSDI 11, Intergraph presenters will share their experience to address how to maximise the value of metadata in conjunction with the INSPIRE initiative, how to plan for successful SDI participation and how to achieve multi-national interoperability for spatial data sharing.

Johann Jessenk, global industry manager for Government & Transportation at Intergraph, said that in recent years, the company has been involved in SDI and INSPIRE initiatives through its work with organisations like GSDI and EUROGI, by helping customers develop their SDI programs and by assisting in government-funded SDI research projects in Europe.

Intergraph presentations at GSDI 11 will include:

Session 2.3 - Wednesday, June 17, 2:00-3:30 pm - Bruce Westcott, Intergraph Metadata Cost-Benefit Analysis: Ideas for Maximizing Value and Minimizing Risks of Data Producers

Abstract: Data producers see limited incentives and rewards for providing high-quality geospatial metadata to the public. Government mandates most often require the dissemination of only skeletal metadata content and place few requirements on the quality of that information. The goal of this presentation is to help information managers and metadata producers envision how supplemental metadata content can enable efficient deployment of their data assets to support the high value applications desired by customers.

Session 2.7 - Wednesday, June 17, 2:00-3:30 pm - Claudio Mingrino and Marek Brylski, Intergraph Participate Successfully in SDI/INSPIRE

Abstract: This session will examine how organizations ranging from local and national governments to private organizations can prepare for successful participation in SDI programs. It will focus on required preparation work, initial implementations, advanced applications and sample case studies.

Session 3.4 - Wednesday, June 17, 4:00-5:30 pm - Bruce Westcott, Intergraph Implementing Multi-National Interoperability and Multilingual Metadata - Experiences in Developing the North American Profile of ISO-19115/19119

Abstract: This session will discuss the harmonization of spatial data standards across the United States and Canada covering the institutional and procedural hurdles to developing a bilingual, multi-national standard.

In addition to sharing best practices with conference attendees, Intergraph will demonstrate its SDI technology at GSDI 11, and will sponsor the Geo Youth Capital program, an educational component of the GSDI conference developed for high school and college students interested in geo-information careers.

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
