GSDI Photo Report

  23/06/2009
Last week, the 11th GSDI Conference took place in Rotterdam. Themed ‘Building SDI Bridges to address Global Challenges', about 1200 delegates attended. Keynote speakers, workshops and informal meetings contributed to the sharing of knowledge about geospatial data infrastructures and their uses. One important milestone is the way to INSPIRE as a geospatail data infrastructure standard. In addition, a lively trade show offered opportunities to learn about various service providers.

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
