Incident Response with Google Maps18/08/2009 |
| Intergraph has presented a public safety computer-aided dispatch solution that supports Google Maps API Premier, the enterprise version of the Google Maps API. The ability to view Google Maps provides communications and field personnel with advanced situational awareness and promotes effective and efficient response to mitigate incident impact and save lives. |

Intergraph I/CAD version 9.0 and Intergraph Mobile for Public Safety public safety solutions now provide emergency response personnel with the familiar Google Maps API Premier user interface that allows for several popular modes of map viewing of an incident location, such as street level, satellite or hybrid view.
The additional map views increase situational awareness by providing emergency response personnel with improved insight and understanding of an emergency location and the surrounding area. The availability of ancillary map views also helps agency resource management by displaying emergency incident locations and response resources on the integrated Google Map. Google Maps API Premier allows Intergraph to include fully interactive Google Maps on public and internal websites, with business features like advanced geocoding and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) data transport.
Daniel Chu, product manager, Google Enterprise says that for fast and effective emergency response, it is essential to equip public safety personnel and emergency responders with actionable information for greater situational awareness and visualisation. By enabling Intergraph's solution to support Google Maps API Premier, first-responders can be prepared with comprehensive knowledge of the geospatial situation lying ahead and deploy the appropriate resources.

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
