| ScanEx R&D Center launched an article writing competition "Practical applications of ScanEx software technologies". Both previously published and original popular science articles on the application of ScanEx software products for custom subject task solutions are accepted for the contest. |

Deadline for submission of papers is 15 October 2009, at software@scanex.ru with as subject noted "Article contest".
The submitted articles should meet the following pre-requisites: a text with maximum 40 thousand characters with spaces in *.doc or *.rtf formats, figures in JPG or TIFF formats, 300 dpi. The text of the article should contain the references to the figures and the captions. The number of articles submitted to the contest by the same author is not limited.
The results of the contest will be summarised on 20 October. The best articles will be published (at the author's discretion, subject to copyright regulations) on ScanEx website and/or specialised Russian publications, in particular, "Earth from space - the most effective solutions" magazine. The winners will be given a free update of ScanEx Image Processor and ScanMagic software applications.
The prizewinners will get a free registration and a right to make a presentation at 4th International Conference "Earth from space - most efficient solutions", which will take place 1 to 3 December 2009 at Moscow area Vatutinki complex of Administrative Department of the President of the Russian Federation.

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories |

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
