Merrick Releases MARS Version 6.0

  16/11/2009
Merrick & Company, specialists in light detection and ranging (LiDAR), digital orthophotography, photogrammetry, hyperspectral mapping and geographic information systems (GIS) mapping, have released Version 6.0 of the Merrick Advanced Remote Sensing (MARS) software suite. The MARS software suite is a robust, production-grade Windows application designed to manage, visualise, process and analyse LiDAR data with powerful visualisation capabilities and performance.

"We've redesigned the MARS software to support a robust end-user environment as well as to provide high-performance data processing functions.  Many new features and product enhancements have been added to the application, which now fully supports Windows 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. I expect that MARS will appeal to a wide variety of commercial, government and academic users," said Gary Outlaw, vice president, business development, geospatial technologies.

This newest version of MARS will be demonstrated publicly for the first time at the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS)/Management Association for Private Photogrammetric Surveyors (MAPPS) 2009 Fall conference to be held in San Antonio, Texas from 16-19th November 2009 at the Crowne Plaza Riverwalk Hotel.  The demonstration will be conducted at Merrick & Company's exhibit.

The software is developed and sold by the geospatial technologies division of Merrick & Company and additional product information is located at www.merrick.com/MARS.

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
