GEO-10 Final Call for Papers

  26/11/2009
The organisers of GEO-10, the number one UK GEO Event, have announced a final call for papers. The two-day m3 conference that will accompany the UK’s only dedicated national geospatial trade exhibition will be built around the dual streams of 'Geomatics: Getting the Data' and 'Geographic: Apps & Users'. There will be plenary keynotes and topical presentations from high profile business leaders, practitioners, academics and researchers.

The m3 conference, focusing on 'measuring, modelling and managing' geospatial information, has traditionally been run alongside the GEO Event. The conference organisers say that this year they are widening the focus by including geographic applications to reflect the industry's growing awareness of the opportunities from new technologies and better access to public sector datasets including mapping.

Those with an interesting project, application or start-up project are invited to submit a synopsis no later than Monday 7th December 2009 to editor@pvpubs.demon.co.uk.

"We have already received some fascinating paper submissions," commented Stephen Booth of PV Publications, organisers of the event and publishers of Geomatics World, GIS Professional and Engineering Surveying Showcase. "Topics such as new opportunities for terrestrial laser scanning and 3D modelling, open source, Bing and Google versus commercially available data and the future development of GNSS, Galileo and other satellite systems, have all been suggested. We are also open to ideas for the ever popular show floor seminar programme."

GEO-10 will take place on the 24th and 25th March 2010 at the Ricoh Arena Coventry, host to this year's GEO-9 that attracted nearly 700 visitors and exhibitors representing over 40 supplier companies and organisations. Combining two days of conference with a trade exhibition that has seen some of the most significant product launches and announcements over it's 12-year history, a packed programme of free, show-floor seminars, live product demos and of course great networking opportunities including a Gala Evening of good food, fun and games, GEO-10 promises to deliver.

Indoor Augmented Reality with Bing Maps

During this presentation of Blaise Aguera during TED 2010, you can see Bing Maps working from the sky towards street-level imagery and also showing images inside buildings. It even is capable adding real-time movie imagery from inside.
