Abstract Submission ISPRS Commission VIII Starts

  07/12/2009
While the online registration for participation to the Technical Commission VIII meeting in Kyoto from 9th to 12th August 2010 in Kyoto (Japan) starts from mid-Januari 2010, online abstract submission has already started.

For the humanity, at the crossroad of the year 2010, Networking the World with Remote Sensing is essential. This will be the major theme of research presentations and discussions among the many domestic and foreign specialists who will meet together in Kyoto. We are looking forward to the participation of everybody, according to technical commission VIII President Haruhisa Shimoda.

Spatial information, and connections between short and long term time sequential information at all scales are crucially needed. Remote sensing is one of the most effective technologies that offer such information to humans.

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
