WebGIS System to Manage Private Forest Lands14/01/2010 |
| SuperGeo Technologies is developing "Private Forest Land Management System" for Taipei City Government, to effectively manage the mountainside resources and reduce natural disasters in forests. The Department of Economic Development in Taipei City Government was hoping to develop a complete spatial database containing the private forest lands in Taipei city and build a standard operating procedure of database establishment. The database needs to produce accurate results rapidly when updated or maintained. |
|
Therefore, Taipei City government authorised SuperGeo to build a WebGIS system to be the references to forest land management and policy decision. Hopefully, the threats and the damage to people's lives and properties can be avoided while natural disasters happen.
The structure of the system employs SuperWebGIS, the Internet map server software, as the electronic map engine to establish the system consisting of database management and WebGIS functions. The structure of the system contains 3 parts, Basic Map Manipulation, Query Function, and Statistic and Export.
Through the system structure of WebGIS, the related staffs can display the maps, charts, query data, and position online without installing any other objects of internet browser. In the meantime, the powerful statistic, analysis, and data export functionalities can improve business operating efficiency.

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
