GeoPDF Gives Access for Pan-European Network Provider

  19/01/2010
Interoute, owner and manager of a fibre optic network that consists of 55,000 kilometres of lit fibre connecting 92 cities in 26 countries, recently purchased TerraGo Technologies' Publisher software from EMEA Distributor, Quarry One Eleven Ltd. They are now able to create GeoPDF maps for their sales and marketing departments.

Like so many other organisations of a similar size, Interoute's GIS department spends a lot of time and effort in reacting to requests for maps from their sales and marketing department. Additionally, the company wanted to standardise using a file format that everyone could understand, irrespective of their experience of using GIS.

Network Documentation Manager, Ivan Novak commented; "We are planning to provide maps in the GeoPDF format so that anyone will be able to open, understand and interact with them. Since the files will open using the free Adobe Reader, this should also save our GIS team a lot of time in supporting users."

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
