JSC PeterburgGaz Standardises Infrastructure Management

  29/04/2010
JSC PeterburgGaz, a gas supplier serving St. Petersburg, Russia, has standardised on Intergraph utilities infrastructure management technology to more efficiently manage its gas supply network serving nearly five million customers.

Intergraph's geospatially-powered utilities infrastructure management software improves data quality and accuracy to enable electric, gas, water and communications utilities to more efficiently manage and track network assets while reducing costs. The comprehensive, enterprise-capable infrastructure management platform houses a connected data model of the entire energy network and is based on open, scalable technology optimised for interactive graphic performance, ease of integration and the data integrity needs of both large and small information system environments. JSC PeterburgGaz has selected Intergraph gas infrastructure management technology to create a geospatial database and leverage spatial data across its 5,300-kilometre gas distribution network.

"Several years ago, we began a pilot project utilising Intergraph G/Technology for creating and maintaining a spatial data management system," said Anton Vanin, head of Information Systems at JSC PeterburgGaz. "Based on the success of this project and Intergraph's in-depth experience working with utilities around the world, we have standardized on the Intergraph platform to expand the system to additional users and divisions within our organization."

Additional plans for G/Technology at JSC PeterburgGaz include incorporating capabilities for accessing the spatial database remotely via mobile devices, as well as integrating the database with SCADA technology.

"Intergraph's geospatially-powered software is uniquely tailored to meet the needs of specific vertical industries, including utilities," said Maximilian Weber, Intergraph Utilities & Communications manager for EMEA. "Our solutions have been installed in gas transport and distribution companies around the world, and we are pleased to continue this success in Russia. Moving forward, we see great growth potential in the utilities market, both in Russia and across the globe."

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
