Underground Cables Mapped06/05/2010 |
| When T-Com, the fixed line business division of Slovak Telkom Group, recently undertook to map its underground fiber optic communication cable networks, it wanted a method that could be easily done by existing work crews. T-Com found the answer in a complete field-ready, mobile solution consisting of a SebaKMT i5000 cable locator paired with an Ashtech MobileMapper CX GPS/ GIS handheld running Geolantis ATLANTIS GIS software. |
The SebaKMT i5000 multi-frequency line location system induces a signal into the cable enabling field crews to find and follow the underground network. The locator can measure the position, the current intensity and evaluate the distortion of the signal.

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories |
|
The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
