Taiwanese Support to Publish and Read WMS

  08/06/2010
SuperWebGIS 2.1 and SuperGIS Desktop 3 support to publish and read WMS services in 67/97TM2. Open GIS Web Map Service (WMS) is the standard of internet map service defined by Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). The standard provides a simple HTTP interface for users to acquire the map images, such as JPG, GIF, and PNG, from the published spatial database and display the images on the browser.

67TM2 and 97TM2 are the common coordinate systems used in Taiwan. Since the commonly-used server and client-side software only support to publish and read WMS services in WGS84, it is quite inconvenient for the users in Taiwan.

SuperWebGIS 2.1, the Internet Map Server Software, supports to publish WMS services in 67TM2 (EPSG:3828) and 97TM2 (EPSG:3826), so users can easily publish the WMS services supporting 67TM2 and 97TM2.

As to reading services, OGC Client, built in SuperGIS Desktop 3, supports to read WMS services in 67TM2 and 97TM2 published by SuperWebGIS or other servers and also supports to read WMS services in WGS84. As a result, users can overlay the layers without converting the coordinate system of the layers, and the work efficiency can be improve.
