Opportunities in a Changing World

  30/06/2010
The Association for Geographic Information (AGI) has revealed a world-class conference programme. Under the theme ‘Opportunities in a Changing World\' AGI GeoCommunity '10 will feature 48 individual papers, delivered in five streams and with six themes.

Plenary presentations from Andy Hudson-Smith of University College London, Rob MacFarlane of the Cabinet Office and CBI Head of Economic Analysis Lai Wah Co together with keynote presentations from senior representatives of Platinum event sponsors ESRI UK and Ordnance Survey will provide thoughtful insights on a range of topics including the GeoWeb, emergency planning, ‘data.gov.uk' and the future fiscal landscape.

AGI GeoCommunity '10 is to take place from the 28th to the 30th September 2010, at the Holiday Inn in Stratford-upon-Avon. Featuring papers from public sector organisations such as the Metropolitan Police, the Environment Agency, Scottish Government, Transport for London and the Office for National Statistics together with leading players from the GI industry such as Microsoft, Mouchel, Nokia and Capita the conference programme has been described by the Conference Chair Simon Doyle as "one of the strongest and most balance programmes I have seen."

"The strength of this programme combined with well appointed facilities against the historic backdrop of Stratford-upon-Avon will build on the unified feel and ‘geocommunity' atmosphere we have created and built on over the past three years," commented Chris Holcroft, Director and CEO of the Association for Geographic Information. "Once again this is set to be the GI event of the year and I look forward to welcoming speakers, delegates and exhibitors alike."

Organisations already committed to the showcase exhibition which will run alongside the conference programme include ESRI (UK) and Ordnance Survey as Platinum sponsors, Microsoft, Autodesk, GetMapping and Postcode Anywhere as Gold sponsors with Oracle, Navteq, Snowflake Software, Cadcorp, Pitney Bowes Business Insight, Sigma Seven, GGP, Star-Apic, Infoterra and UNIGIS as Silver or educational sponsors. Sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are selling out fast and the organisers are urging interested parties to act quickly.

AGI GeoCommunity '10 will also offer delegates hands-on training sessions, led by some of the most respected players from the world of geographic information, and of course a range of outstanding networking and social opportunities. The pre-conference Ice Breaker, with professional entertainment, interactive fun and dining is the perfect way to ease into the conference and the ever popular AGI Party is a lively evening offering informal networking opportunities, fun activities, food and drink with a fancy dress theme of hats!
