Lifecycle of Infrastructure Software for Student Use05/07/2010 |
| The School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), located in New Delhi, India, has joined the Be Careers Network Academic SELECT subscription programme. SPA will use the program to help it establish a center of excellence at the institution that will enhance the software skills of its graduate, post-graduate, and doctoral students and help them succeed in the architecture, engineering, construction (AEC), and operations professions. |
|
SPA's new Academic SELECT subscription provides students with lab and classroom access to more than sixty software products used by professional design and engineering organisations for sustaining infrastructure; unlimited no-fee home-use software licensing for faculty and students; LIVE training in Bentley's virtual classroom and OnDemand eLearning through the Bentley LEARN Server; access to training material; 24/7 technical support; scholarships and grants; professional networking via Bentley's Be Communities website; and much more.
Commenting on the program, Ranjit Mitra, director of SPA and a professor of urban design, said, "Through our new Be Careers Network Academic SELECT subscription, we will create a SPA Center of Excellence dedicated to providing our students with in-depth knowledge of the tools and best practices they will need to design, build, and operate the infrastructure of tomorrow - everything from buildings to transportation systems, communications systems, water systems, plants, and more. We are delighted by the broad range of software the subscription encompasses as well as by its cost effectiveness. Without question, it will give our students a distinct competitive advantage as they enter the jobs market, empowering them to become innovative infrastructure engineers at some of the world's leading AEC firms."
Atanu Pattanayak, Bentley territory executive for South Asia, said, "On behalf of all my colleagues at Bentley, I am very pleased to welcome SPA into our Academic SELECT program. This renowned educational and research institution continues to be at the forefront of practices that build a strong foundation for students' career development. Bentley's academic subscription supports SPA's commitment to helping secure a successful future for students in their chosen disciplines by enabling them to acquire not only an understanding of core architectural, engineering, construction, and geospatial concepts, but also solid advanced technology skills that make them job ready."
