| Esri made a GIS application for the iPhone and this will not be the last one, so is an expectation. Fascinating developments at the Esri International User Conference in San Diego is the extension of high-end GIS applications and tools to cell phones.Most new cell phones already have GPS built in and they are in principle prepared for GIS applications. Simple map applications have long been available for cell phones. |

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories |

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
