ERDAS Contributes to Map Asia 2010

  27/07/2010
ERDAS is a Gold Sponsor at Map Asia, 26th to 28th July 2010 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During this conference, ERDAS President, Joel Campbell will be presenting on "The Changing Landscape of Remote Sensing."

"We are excited to participate in the Map Asia 2010 conference, bringing together ERDAS desktop and server solutions to meet the geospatial information needs throughout SE Asia," said Kaushik Chakraborty, Vice President, Asia Pacific, ERDAS. "ERDAS provides the most comprehensive portfolio of solutions for authoring, managing and delivering geospatial information relevant for decision-making processes."

Exhibiting in Booth #14, ERDAS is showcasing ERDAS 2010 Software, which includes ERDAS IMAGINE, LPS, ERDAS APOLLO and several other desktop and server solutions. ERDAS IMAGINE 2010 incorporates image analysis, remote sensing and GIS. Featuring a new ribbon interface, ERDAS IMAGINE makes it easier for users to navigate and customize their workspace. ERDAS IMAGINE also provides enhanced tools for parallel batch processing, spatial modeling, map production, mosaicking and change detection. LPS 2010 is a powerful photogrammetry system for a variety of workflows, including defense, remote-area mapping, transportation planning, orthophoto production (for basemap generation) and close-range applications.

ERDAS APOLLO 2010 is customizable, equipped to fully understand, competently manage and rapidly serve an organization's large volumes of geospatial data. ERDAS APOLLO implements an out-of-the box Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), that provides a publish, find and bind workflow for any data type.

The theme of this year's conference is "Connecting Government & Citizen through Ubiquitous GIS." As governments strive to make seamless and cost-effective services available to citizens, individual agencies must view themselves as an integrated part of ‘one government, many agencies, and single-window delivery.' This conference provides an opportunity for the public and private sectors to share ideas on how to leverage technology to grow towards a connected government.

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
