Increasing Productivity with ArcGIS 10

Esri is offering a free, one-day seminar, Increase Productivity with ArcGIS 10, that will benefit professionals in all industries, whether they are working in a desktop, mobile, server, or cloud environment. This educational event will take place September through November of this year and will be held in more than 70 US cities.

Attendees will
• See how ArcGIS is a powerful system that facilitates the creation, management, analysis, and dissemination of information.
• Learn practical ways to achieve enhanced analysis, access imagery, make better use of the Web, apply ArcGIS in the field, and more.
• Discover better ways to launch and manage geospatial projects as well as an enterprise geographic information system (GIS).
• Understand how to promote collaboration both inside and outside an organization.
ArcGIS experts will be available to answer questions. Participants will also be able to interact with peers and share experiences and successes. The seminar will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m.; lunch will be provided. Seminar registration for cities nationwide, as well as an agenda, is available on the event website.

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
