ScanMaster 2.0

  16/09/2010
Topcon has announced the release of ScanMaster 2.0 software which is faster and more powerful than previous versions. This new software saves time and increases the productivity on every job, however ScanMaster 2.0 is currently available only in Europe.

With laser scanning, software is the essential link in the chain. This latest version of Topcon's scanning processing package ScanMaster 2.0 unlocks the chains of the post processing workflow and saves time, which is the bottom-line for any business.

ScanMaster 2.0 introduces new and improved features, including:
• Superior performance - visualization and rendering billions of points with no lag.
• Automatic edge extraction
• Volume computation
• Automatic noise filtering
• Automatic scan registration
• Automatic CAD extraction direct from the cloud no mesh is required for sections, contours and profiles

Common laser data processes have been optimised with this software and the workflows have been simplified to ensure that the ‘thinking' part of laser data processing is back in the hands of the operator.

ScanMaster 2.0 comes as a free viewer module that enables instrument control, visualisation and data mark-up. A user can take a scanner into the field and collect data while keeping the complete version in the back-office for data-processing. The full functionality can be enabled with a security key.

The core functionality of the software package has been enhanced and primarily features a high performance point cloud engine offering faster indexing, reduced file size, improved visual quality, clarity and rendering performance. This new feature frees up memory for the many new and improved processing algorithms.

Using Total Stations for Indoor Radiation Mapping

A total station can be used for many applications. Oak Ridge Associated Universities (USA) uses a total station for indoor radiation characterisation, which enables the team to better perform environmental assessments. This video shows how it is done.
