Applanix and ITRES OEM Supply Agreement

  01/12/2010
Applanix Corporation and ITRES Research Limited have entered into an OEM supply agreement. Applanix is to supply the POS AV and POSTrack products for integration with ITRES optical imaging systems.

"This agreement is the culmination of our long-standing relationship with ITRES, who has been offering and integrating Applanix POS AV for over 10 years now," said Applanix President Steven Woolven.

"Applanix' precision GNSS plus inertial technology is an excellent complement to our high performance systems. Applanix POS AV mirrors the precision and performance of our own airborne hyperspectral and thermal imagers," said Doug Davison, President and CEO of ITRES.

ITRES optical imaging systems operate throughout the electromagnetic spectrum which includes the visible-near infrared (VNIR), shortwave infrared (SWIR), midwave infrared (MWIR) and longwave thermal infrared (LWIR). They use custom designed and high-grade sensor arrays, advanced custom optics, and state-of-the-art noise suppression technology to provide the best possible imagery. ITRES mapping sensor systems are laser scanner-ready, fully calibrated, and can be applied to a vast assortment of applications including environmental assessment, water quality, forestry management, wetlands mapping, utility corridor mapping, geology and mineral characterisations, heat-loss and thermal anomaly mapping, emergency response, target detection and many more.

The Applanix POS AV consists of hardware and software specifically designed for direct georeferencing airborne sensor data, thereby improving the efficiency of data collection and the map production process. With integrated precision GNSS and inertial technology, POS AV is engineered for use with aerial cameras, imaging sensors, synthetic aperture radar, and laser scanning technology. POS AV includes features such as in-air initialisation, levelling of stabilised mounts, automatic drift correction, GNSS position translation using encoder data from stabilised mounts, and the generation of Exterior Orientation of each image for the mapping process.

The Applanix POSTrack is a flight management system for airborne cameras with integrated POS AV, delivering high levels of direct georeferencing accuracy and efficiency for airborne mapping sensors, as well as real-time sensor control and pilot guidance. Flight management features include mission planning, automatic stabilized mount control, and automatic camera triggering at pre-planned intervals. The POSPac Mobile Mapping Suite (MMS) software, featuring the Applanix IN-Fusion technology and SmartBase module, can also be integrated with POSTrack. POSPac MMS enables airborne missions to be flown with higher reliability and in less time.

Using Total Stations for Indoor Radiation Mapping

A total station can be used for many applications. Oak Ridge Associated Universities (USA) uses a total station for indoor radiation characterisation, which enables the team to better perform environmental assessments. This video shows how it is done.
