Mike Dunbar to Speak at SPAR Europe

  02/12/2010
Mike Dunbar, business development manager at Velodyne, will deliver a presentation at the SPAR Europe conference being held 7th and 8th December at the Amsterdam RAI Convention Centre in the Netherlands. The presentation will be held on Wednesday, 8th December 2010 at 1PM in Room B.

Dunbar's presentation, ‘Compact Lidar Sensor for Mobile Mapping and 3D Data Collection," will demonstrate how a high-resolution sensor can develop an accurate, dense point-cloud for 3D map development as well as obstacle detection or landmark navigation on autonomous vehicles. The discussion will also describe how the sensor, using 32 lasers, is suited to high-density data collection for a variety of ground and maritime vehicles in day or night conditions, at full vehicle speeds, thereby dramatically reducing the time needed for terrain coverage.

Dunbar has over 20 years experience in the sensor technology field. His background includes bringing new technologies to market, establishing sales channels around the world and helping customers integrate Lidar technology into autonomous vehicles and mobile mapping applications. He is the author of numerous articles in trade publications and a frequent presenter at industry conferences in the area of sensor applications. Dunbar is a graduate of the College of Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, USA.

Using Total Stations for Indoor Radiation Mapping

A total station can be used for many applications. Oak Ridge Associated Universities (USA) uses a total station for indoor radiation characterisation, which enables the team to better perform environmental assessments. This video shows how it is done.
