Australian Flood Response

  21/03/2011
Over the past three months, AAM has played a vital role in responding to natural disaster events in Australia. The company has worked closely with governments of Queensland and Victoria, as well as Brisbane City Council in pre- and post-disaster response for the Brisbane and Victorian floods, capturing 500sq miles of imagery at an average 5cm resolution for the Queensland State Government website.

Leading Australian Disaster Planning
More recently, the Queensland State Government have enlisted AAM's help in creating an online record of the devastation and reconstruction generated by the floods and Cyclone Yasi on their new website for the Queensland Reconstruction Authority. The website will feature aerial imagery of the devastation across Queensland and will be used as a critical tool for the public in future natural disasters.

AAM has just released a new video which briefly reports its involvement in this project and other Australian disasters. The video features a recent AAM appearance on SBS World News. To supplement the video, AAM has released a full news article on their Brisbane flood model simulations, viewed by the world in the hours leading up to the Brisbane flood crisis.

Using Total Stations for Indoor Radiation Mapping

A total station can be used for many applications. Oak Ridge Associated Universities (USA) uses a total station for indoor radiation characterisation, which enables the team to better perform environmental assessments. This video shows how it is done.
