European Lidar Mapping Forum

  30/06/2011
The ELMF team are taking the show to Salzburg, Austria from 29th to 30th November 2011. In four weeks time, since the launch of the second event, old and new exhibitors are taking stands with 60% of the floor plan already allocated. The organisers are also enjoying a very positive response to the Call for Papers that was announced recently with many abstracts already submitted. The deadline for online submission is 25th July 2011.

The ELMF conference is a platform on which to launch the latest concepts from commercial or academic research, leading-edge innovations in technologies, improved operating practices, reports on actual project experiences and to discuss new applications and markets being driven by the rapid improvements in Lidar technology. Over two days the conference will focus on the use of Lidar to support transport, urban modelling, coastal zone mapping, asset management and GIS applications. The call abstracts can be submitted online at www.lidarmap.org/ELMF/conference/submit_papers.aspx, before 25th July 2011.

Recent additions to the exhibitor list include FARO, Optech, Topcon Europe, Ixblue, Leica, Esri and Optech. They will be joining the likes of Geocue, Riegl, Topscan, virtualcitySYSTEMS and many more exhibitors who are involved in airborne, bathymetric and terrestrial Lidar and/or mobile mapping systems, including system and component manufacturers, operators and service companies

Another element to ELMF is the technical workshop programme. Hosted by exhibiting companies the aim is to provide novice operators and their managers and potential purchasers of equipment with an understanding of the basic principles and fundamental benefits and technology associated with Lidar whilst providing the more seasoned experts with up-to-date information on current developments.

Centrally located, Salzburg is easily accessible for northern, southern, eastern and western European countries with excellent flights, road and rail connections.

The organisers, Intelligent Exhibitions, have a record of ten years of the International Lidar Mapping Forum (ILMF), held annually in the USA.

Using Total Stations for Indoor Radiation Mapping

A total station can be used for many applications. Oak Ridge Associated Universities (USA) uses a total station for indoor radiation characterisation, which enables the team to better perform environmental assessments. This video shows how it is done.
