2011 Blue Marble User Conference Speakers

  08/08/2011
Blue Marble Geographics (USA) has announced the featured speakers for the Third Annual Blue Marble User Conference on 2nd November, at the Grand Hyatt Denver, CO. Speakers include industry leaders from Topcon, Merrick & Company, Raytheon, USGS and many more. With all that is happening in the industry, and in Lidar, there is definitely a theme naturally occurring.

This User Conference is promised to be a fun, educational day focused on Blue Marble software, geospatial data transformation, geomatics and highly accurate data challenges. Attendees can expect exciting presentations of best practices for sound GIS and survey data management. This free conference will be followed by public training on Thursday 3rd November consisting of Blue Marble's Applied Geodesy Training. Attendees are asked to pre-register to guarantee a spot at this complimentary event.

Delegates are invited to share recent experiences, discoveries, and innovations with the other Blue Marble users and industry experts.

For the first time in Colorado, Blue Marble will offer its popular Applied Geodesy Training course on Thursday 3rd November. The curriculum focuses on the basics of geodesy as applied to the Blue Marble Desktop and Geographic Calculator v7.6. Whether professionals are working with coordinate conversion, raster reprojection, or complex GIS data conversion knowing how to handle inevitable complex mapping issues that arise is key. Anyone attending the Third Annual User Conference will be offered a discount on the training, while the conference is free to attend.

"Colorado is a hot-bed of GIS activity and a natural fit for our user conference," stated Blue Marble President Patrick Cunningham. "We are looking forward to bringing our users in the area and from away together to meet with our team in a hands-on, educational setting. We are also pleased to offer this at no cost to attendees hopefully helping out with tight budgets in a challenging economy."

Using Total Stations for Indoor Radiation Mapping

A total station can be used for many applications. Oak Ridge Associated Universities (USA) uses a total station for indoor radiation characterisation, which enables the team to better perform environmental assessments. This video shows how it is done.
