Intergeo 2011: Dialogue and Debate About Tomorrow's Trends

  22/09/2011
At the third Trend and Media Forum, taking place during Intergeo in Nuremberg, Germany, the geo industry will be looking ahead to what the future holds in store. The programme at Hall 6, Stand A10 includes more than 30 presentations and will also see the winners of the GIS Best Practice Award and the Geo Business Award announced.

 GIS Award 2010 Presentation

The agenda for the TMF at the leading conference trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management will kick off on 27th September 2011 in Nuremberg by showcasing practical specialist know-how and direct added value for employees of local authorities. In his speech on ‘3D urban models and municipal applications' at 11AM, Michel Krämer from the Fraunhofer Institute for Visual Computing IGD in Darmstadt will present technologies and workflows for the use of 3D urban models in a municipal context. The presentation will be followed by an opportunity to discuss the issues raised.

On Wednesday at the conference trade fair, GNSS will be a headline topic not just at the Navigation Conference but at the TMF, too. This year's Trend and Media Forum is crammed with innovative products, services and topics. Examples include ALKIS, Open Sea Map, requirements for cutting-edge WebGIS, "Trends and Application Innovation in Earth Monitoring", added-value strategy in the management of 3D laser scans and two occupational safety presentations on efficient work culture (27th September 2011, 3.20PM) and "Healthy Staff, Healthy Balance Sheet", (28th September 2011, 1.40PM). This innovation showcase is further enhanced by the award-winning entries in the GIS Best Practice Awards held by Intergeo's patron - the DVW (German Society for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management) - and the projects nominated for the GeoBusiness Award by the GIW Commission. Just as important, and equally as international and interdisciplinary, are the large number of discussions and debates taking place between experts, users, companies, scientists and media representatives.

Using Total Stations for Indoor Radiation Mapping

A total station can be used for many applications. Oak Ridge Associated Universities (USA) uses a total station for indoor radiation characterisation, which enables the team to better perform environmental assessments. This video shows how it is done.
