"Intergeo Accelerates As it Progresses"

  27/09/2011
The 2011 edition of Intergeo kicked off this morning, Tuesday 27th September 2011. Within just a few hours of the event opening, Mr. Dipl.-Ing. Hagen Graeff, the general representative of the DVW (Deutschen Verein für Vermessungswesen), noted that initial signs were very positive and that some significant new developments were already emerging in the business of geomatics. "As usual, it's a bit of a slow start, but that always changes as the Intergeo progresses."

Hagen GraeffMany exhibitors at this edition of Intergeo are demonstrating total workflow solutions and technologies, ranging from data-gathering to making geospatial data available. In particular, new developments in geospatial web-based technologies, such as cloud and 3D technology, are present in growing numbers at Intergeo. Such technologies are providing more rapid and more reliable access to all manner of spatial information for a wide variety of end users, with spatial data also increasingly being made available to the general public.

The scientific congress is organised in conjunction with the Intergeo trade show and is hosted by the DVW. This year, a special navigation section is included in the conference. Users of geospatial information are being offered the opportunity to get in touch with representatives of the geospatial industry, thus stimulating the discussion of needs and solutions between the various parties.

As Hagen Graeff indicated, Intergeo is such a successful, state-of-the-art event because it brings together so many different disciplines and professions from the geomatics world - and beyond - on one stage, creating a momentum that takes the whole industry to an even higher level. This makes Intergeo a 'must visit' event for every geomatics professional.

Using Total Stations for Indoor Radiation Mapping

A total station can be used for many applications. Oak Ridge Associated Universities (USA) uses a total station for indoor radiation characterisation, which enables the team to better perform environmental assessments. This video shows how it is done.
