Maptek Opens New Office in Calgary09/12/2011 |
| Maptek has opened a new office in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The office will be managed by Carlito deSouza, who has experience in the oil and gas industry as well as having held various technical services roles in the drilling and exploration sectors. |

As I-Site Technical Services consultant, Carlito will initially concentrate on expanding the I-Site sales and consulting business in the region. The new Maptek office is located in the southeast part of Calgary, in a commercial area outside the city core.
The initial focus of the new office will be sales and technical support for Maptek I-Site technology, which is used successfully at mine sites around the world for surveying, mapping, and volume calculations.
Since starting with Maptek about 6 weeks ago, Carlito has travelled to Australia to visit the Maptek laser scanning manufacturing facility in Adelaide, South Australia. While there, he undertook training in the latest I-Site laser scan data modelling software and participated in the global sales meeting for the I-Site 8400 laser scanner.
The new mid-range scanner was launched at Intergeo in Nuremberg, Germany, last September, with first units due for delivery in January 2012.
Carlito has also travelled to mine sites in the region to experience first-hand the operational survey environment and hear from users.
"The opportunities for deploying Maptek equipment and services in the region are diverse and many. It's vital that Maptek understands the needs of our existing and potential customers so we can deliver the technology and services to meet those needs," said Jon Larson, General Manager North America.
