Greater Demand for Professional Imagery

  19/01/2012
During 2011, AeroGRID customers purchased aerial data from a total of 27 different countries. The selection of imagery the company supplied was diverse and covered all corners of the world, including Mexico, Brazil, Iceland, Serbia, Uganda, the Philippines and New Zealand. Meanwhile, the number of countries for which significant aerial data coverage access has been secured has increased to over 60.

Aerogrid adds Finnish Imagery

Since the advent of worldwide Google imagery, many of the established aerial survey companies have come to understand that keeping their data locked up in an archive will not benefit anyone. Yet while Google may well satisfy the consumer market, there is still a thriving professional market for high-accuracy orthorectified products.

Miles Taylor, general manager at AeroGRID, knows the market and says the company can source aerial data wherever it may be available. "We are actively seeking new partners to extend our reach still further, and anyone interested in making their data available to a wider audience should get in touch. We are extending our WMS/WFS service in 2012 too, so that much of our data will be available for convenient internet access."

Have just started using a Gatewing X100. Good results so far but stuggling a bit with post flying software. David Manson - 24/01/2012 - 21:45

3D Scanning of Historic Sugar Factories

The Alliance for Integrated Spatial Technologies at the University of South Florida, USA, recently worked with the Florida Park Service on a project to document the remains of several historic sugar-mill sites in the State Parks to create as-builts to be used in preservation and conservation of these resources. The FARO LS 880, along with GPS and total station georeferencing and colour imaging, was used on these projects.
