KOREC Strengthens UAV Position20/04/2012 |
| An agreement with Germany-based hexacopter manufacturer Aibotix improves the position of KOREC, headquartered in the UK, in the UAV sector. The company will be an Aibotix ‘Premier Partner’ and the sole UK and Irish distributor of the multicopter Aibot X6. The Aibot X6 will broaden KOREC’s offering in the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) market and compliment KOREC’s existing static wing UAV solution, the SenseFly SwingletCAM. |

UAVs offer a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to manned aerial surveys, reduce the need for long planning cycles and provide a fast turnaround of data.
The Aibot X6 is built out of ultra-light carbon fibre reinforced plastic to protect each of the Aibot’s six propellers and can fly up to 30 minutes on a single battery charge. Easy to use, the Aibot X6 is operated remotely via a standard Tablet-PC and no specialist knowledge of flying model aircrafts is required. Using elements of Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing Software combined with special sensors, the multicopter Aibot X6 guarantees collision protection, crash safety and easy operation. Take-off and landing are fully automated and can be undertaken within a 3m diameter.
With its rugged design, the Aibot X6 can mount any camera up to 2kg in weight, including specialist SLR (single-lens reflex), infra-red and Lidar cameras, which further extend its usage. The Aibot X6 also offers a special camera housing with automatic pitch and roll compensation to ensure blur free images. This is backed up with high resolution video and live images with FPV (first person view).
Its rotary construction makes it particularly suitable for near distance applications such as structural inspections, the monitoring of civil infrastructures and working under bridges as well as the more traditional areas of mapping and aerial surveys.
