Intergraph Receives Innovation of the Year Award

Intergraph has received the prestigious Innovation of the Year award for its SmartPlant Fusion solution, an advanced way to make legacy information available for decision support. The award was presented during the Asia Oil & Gas Awards 2013 ceremony held on 18 November in Bangkok, Thailand. It was Intergraph’s first nomination and success at the Asia Oil & Gas Awards.

SmartPlant Fusion is the latest solution developed by Intergraph to rapidly capture, organise and make available large volumes of previously unstructured information through a simple web portal interface. The types of unstructured information include documents, drawings, lists and sheets, 3D models and High Definition Surveying (HDS) laser scans, which comprises integrated laser scan point clouds and high-resolution photography.

Intergraph earned the Innovation of the Year award by showcasing how SmartPlant Fusion is specifically designed to tackle the challenges faced by plant operators and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies in accessing, organising and managing unstructured legacy engineering information of an operating plant. The solution is successfully being implemented by a major operator of oil and gas production in Australia.

Judges for the Asia Oil & Gas Awards 2013 included a prestigious panel of executives from some of Asia's most recognised oil and gas companies, representing The Philippines National Oil Corporation (PNOC), ONGC of India and Northern Gulf Oil.

The complete list of Asia Oil & Gas Award winners is available at the event’s website.

The Asia Oil & Gas Awards 2013 ceremony was held in conjunction with the Asia Offshore Oil & Gas Summit 2013, a two-day conference and exhibition covering the latest offshore exploration, production and technological developments in Asia. The summit attracted IOCs, NOCs and government ministers from across Asia’s oil and gas sector.

Information Acquisition

Patrick Holcomb, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine’s executive vice president of global business development and marketing, said this solution marks Intergraph's first foray into brownfield legacy information acquisition and engineering companies and owner operators recognise its value.

SmartPlant Fusion will change the way industry manages and extends the life of existing operating assets and brownfield facilities.  Both EPCs and owner operators can extract tremendous value from unstructured information and at the same time reduce the amount of time required on site, helping to reduce costs, improve personnel safety and increase quality and productivity, Holcomb added.

SmartPlant Fusion is designed to rapidly capture, organise and make large volumes of existing unstructured information available through a simple web portal interface in a highly organised and intuitive manner. SmartPlant enables intuitive navigation with a photo-realistic representation of the way things are really connected, making unintelligent information smart. The ARC Advisory Group, a leading industry analyst firm, ranked Intergraph as the No. 1 overall worldwide provider of engineering design solutions for industry according to its “Engineering Design Tools for Industry and Infrastructure Worldwide Outlook Market Analysis and Forecast Through 2016.”
