Istanbul Chooses Orbit GT Mobile Mapping Solutions

Orbit GT’s solutions for Mobile Mapping have been chosen as pinnacle solution for exploiting and sharing huge volumes mobile mapping imagery and Lidar throughout the Istanbul Metropolitan area. Over 5,000 users will now gain instant access to Terabytes of mobile mapping content of great value throughout the administration in this fast-growing city.

Peter Bonne, vice-president business development and senior product manager at Orbit GT, said his company congratulates their representative Geomobis on realising this trend-setting solution in one of the world’s largest metropoles.  

The choice for Orbit GT software was part of a larger project incorporating the collection of mobile mapping data, appointed to Geomobis.

Selçuk Bostan, general manager of Geomobis, Turkey, said he is very glad that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) which provides service at world standards, has selected Geomobis and Orbit GT for this world-class mobile mapping project. ‘Panorama Istanbul’ is financially sponsored by Istanbul Development Agency and Ministry of Development of Turkey.

Within this project 4,000km of main arterial roads will be scanned using the Geomobis mobile mapping system. From this massive amount of data, the Directorate of Road Maintenance and Repair of IMM will create asset inventories using Orbit GT solutions for mobile mapping. GIS content is expected to be used in all departments of IMM with support of Orbit GT solutions. In addition, this mobile mapping and GIS project will be a milestone for Istanbul, Selçuk Bostan commented.
