2012 FIG Foundation Grant & Scholarship

The FIG Foundation is to open the application options for the FIG Foundation Academic Research Grant and Scholarhips. The FIG Foundation will be providing research grants of up to EUR20,000 spread over two years for applicants based on a surveying/geomatics academic programme that teaches surveying in a country listed by the World Bank as a low-income, lower-middle or upper-middle income economy.

The applicants are required to have an established record of published research - at least two articles in good quality, internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals serves as a useful guideline - and have experience in managing postgraduate students.

Applications will be judged on the quality of the application and need. In the event that two applications are judged to be of equal quality, applications from low-income and lower-middle income countries will be preferred. Applications are to be sent at latest 30 July 2012 to fig@fig.net with “FIG Foundation Academic Research Grant Application” shown in the Subject Line.

The FIG Foundation will also be providing scholarships of up to EUR4,000 to PhD students. Applicants shall be studying for a PhD degree and registered solely in a surveying/geomatics academic programme that teaches surveying in a country listed by the World Bank as a low-income, lower-middle or upper-middle income economy, they must have had a paper accepted by a peer reviewed international journal based on their doctoral research project; applicants should be the lead author, and the paper should be co-authored with their supervisor. The applicants should not have submitted their final thesis at the application deadline.

In the event that two applications are judged to be of equal quality, applications from low-income and lower-middle income countries will be preferred.
