Exploring Digital Earth and Technology

Registrations are now open for the 4th Digital Earth Summit, 'Digital Earth and Technology', to be held in Wellington, New Zealand, from 2 to 4 September 2012. The Summit promises to bring the best speakers from both New Zealand and overseas to exchange knowledge and explore technology advancement in this area. The scientific committee invites submissions for the Summit, with all submissions required by the deadline of 15 June 2012.

Prof. Carlo Ratti, Director of SENSEable City Laboratory at MIT has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at the Summit, and the Committee will be announcing further speakers shortly.

The focus is on digital earth science and technology, including advanced Earth observation systems, augmented reality and visualisation, high-performance computation and simulation, and spatial data infrastructures.

The 2012 Digital Earth Summit was awarded to Wellington by the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) at the completion of the 2011 Symposium in Perth, Australia.

The International Society for Digital Earth is a non-political, non-government, not-for-profit society for the promotion of academic exchange, science and technology innovation, education and international collaboration on the Digital Earth vision. Digital Earth aims to harness the world’s data and information resources to develop a virtual 3-D model of the Earth in order to monitor, measure and forecast natural and human activity on the planet.
