Intergeo: New Territory

Intergeo, the world's largest congress and trade-fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management, will this year be held in Karlsruhe, Germany, from 22^nd to 24^th September. About 16,000 visitors are expected to visit the event, and five hundred exhibitors will be showcasing their latest innovations in a hall area of 25,000m² .

Last May's preview offered a foretaste of what can be expected in September, with discussions surrounding the dimensions of geodata and importance of a global coordinate system; Intergeo is embarking on new territory, according to Jens Riecken, vice-president of Intergeo organiser DVW, the German society for geodesy, geoinformation and land management. Further key themes for the meeting include early-warning systems for risk and crisis management, sustainable construction amid the financial and banking crisis, and energy and environmental issues in the light of European environmental policies.
