OS Staff Present Cheque to Marie Curie

A cheque for GBP10,000 was presented by UK Ordnance Survey’s director general and chief executive, Vanessa Lawrence CB this week. Ordnance Survey staff started the campaign in November 2010 and this payment means the charity Marie Curie has made good progress towards meeting their GBP74,000 target.

Wendy Savage, Community Fundraiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care said to be delighted to receive this donation and pleased that they have really taken the fund to their hearts raising so much money in a short period of time. The money goes a long way towards raising the funds Marie Curie need to ensure that continuing to provide a free nursing service for terminally ill people who want to be cared for at home.

Elaine Owen, Corporate Responsibility Manager at Ordnance Survey added: “Our staff have sold doughnuts, bought and planted daffodil bulbs, swapped clothes, raffled cakes and a range of other activities to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. We are proud to be supporting the charity and are pleased that our efforts will make such a difference to their fundraising effort.”
