Photo Mapping With Ultra-rugged GPS Camera

GeoSpatial Experts is bundling its GPS-Photo Link photo mapping software with Nikon's new COOLPIX AW100 camera. The new GPS camera with built-in compass is the first Nikon COOLPIX designed with an ultra-rugged body for outdoor use in almost any conditions: it is built for true underwater use to a depth of 33 feet, for example, and it can survive impact after a fall from up to five feet. It is weather-resistant down to 14°F (minus 10°C). The AW100 weighs 6.3 ounces (179 grams).  

The COOLPIX AW100 has a GPS and compass built into its body. The AW100 provides 16-megapixel image quality and full-high definition (HD) movie recording. The Nikon AW100 offers a 5X optical, 4X digital zoom.

Introduced in 2001, GPS-Photo Link is the industry standard software for mapping photographs. The software is able to map photographs and accompanying attribute information captured with a GPS camera, smartphone with GPS, or any digital camera used in conjunction with any GPS unit. Digital map output includes Esri shapefiles and geodatabases and Google Earth files. The software gives photographers the ability to enter photo attribute data that can be permanently written into the image's EXIF header. The user can also create customised output for data sharing and compliance reporting including watermarked photos and reports in a variety of formats.
